The Tour Itinerary

 

Day 1: Wednesday, 22 May 2025:  Athens - Flight to Ioanina - City tour in Ioannina 

  • Morning:  We will start with a morning flight to Ioannina, the capital of Epirus. (the arrival to Athens – can be a night before the group plans to have the flight at 10:40 AM – Landing at 12:30). 
     

  • Afternoon: Ioannina Old Town: Explore historical sites, including the Romaniote Jewish Synagogue. We will have a peaceful coffee break by the lake together, then take a boat ride to Ioannina Island to learn about Ali Pasha's legacy.
     

  •  Dinner: At a fine dining restaurant featuring modern Greek cuisine
     

  •  Accommodation: Overnight at the luxurious Gran Serai Congress & Spa***** or similar, Ioannina.

Day 2: Thursday, May 23rd, 2025: Zagori Region Villages – Vikos Gorge – Monodendri – Canyoning activity  – Local Stonemason Workshop - Ioannina

  • Morning: Explore the stunning Zagori villages, known for their stone bridges and historic architecture. Wander through Kipi and Monodendri, discovering hidden gems, rich history, and unique architecture.

  • Afternoon: Guided hike through the Vikus Gorge, known as the deepest canyon in the world (per its depth-to-width ratio). Alternatively, for more adventure,  we will combine also canyoning excursion. Then, participate in a workshop with a local stonemason who can teach you the traditional art of building stone bridges or stone houses, a hallmark of the region’s architecture.

  • Dinner: A special authentic place offers traditional Greek dishes

Day 3:  Friday, May 24th, 2025: Ioannina – Metsovo – Prespa Lakes – Kastoria

  • Morning: Depart Ioannina for Metsovo, a charming village known for its wooden architecture and famous Metsovone cheese. While visiting Metsovo, participate in culinary culture by participating in a cheese-making workshop at one of the local dairies, where you’ll learn to make Metsovone cheese and enjoy a tasting session.

  • Afternoon: We will arrive to the Prespa Lakes and enjoy a peaceful boat ride to the Monastery of St. Mary of Pygmaleia, with ancient frescoes. Proceed to Kastoria, a lakeside town known for its fur trade and Byzantine-era architecture.

  • Dinner: Local Tavern in Kastoria's old town

  • Accommodation: Esperos Palace Hotel & Spa****or similar.

DAY 4: Saturday, May 25th, 2025: Kastoria – Edessa Waterfalls – The Loutraki Thermal Experience – Visit a local winery - Thessaloniki 

  • Morning: Stroll in the beautiful lake coast of Kastoria and Visit the Edessa Waterfalls, a stunning natural spectacle. 

  • Afternoon: Unwind in the Loutraki Pozar thermal springs, renowned for their healing properties— an option for an extended spa and wellness experience, combining the healing thermal waters with a personalized massage or wellness treatment. Then, we will visit a local winery near Loutraki for a wine-tasting session where you can savor fine Greek wines and learn about the region's viticulture—travel to Thessaloniki, exploring the vibrant atmosphere of this northern Greek capital.

  • Dinner: enjoying delicious Greek mezze dishes.

  • Accommodation: Superior One Boutique Hotel***** or similar, Thessaloniki.

Day 5: Sunday, May 26th, 2025: Thessaloniki – Veria – Vergina  - Traditional Greek Dance Experience

  • Morning: Visit Vergina, where you can explore the Royal Tombs and artifacts of Philip II, the father of Alexander the Great.

  • Afternoon: Discover Veria's Jewish heritage with a visit to the Veria Synagogue and hear heartfelt stories from the community. Drive back to Thessaloniki and enjoy the Traditional Greek Dance Workshop. After visiting Vergina, we will have a traditional Greek dance lesson experience, where a local instructor teaches folk dances like shirataki and kalamata.

  •  Dinner: BBQ dinner at a local Taverna , accompanied by live music.

  • Accommodation: Superior One Boutique Hotel***** or similar, Thessaloniki.

Day 6: Monday, May 27th, 2025: Thessaloniki – Revealing the city

  • Morning:We will begin the day at the White Tower, where we’ll climb to the top for panoramic views of the waterfront and the Aegean Sea. Then, stroll through Aristoteles Square, soaking in the lively atmosphere with local cafés, street performers, and artists.

  • Afternoon: Visit the Rotunda, a 4th-century Roman mausoleum that showcases Thessaloniki’s historical significance. Explore Ano Poli (Upper Town), where traditional neighborhoods and ancient city walls offer stunning views and glimpses of the past. Visit the Monasteriens Synagogue to learn about Thessaloniki’s Jewish heritage and community.

  • Dinner: Traditional Greek dinner at a seafood and fish restaurant. 

  • Accommodation: Superior One Boutique Hotel***** or similar, Thessaloniki.

Day 7: Tuesday, May 28th, 2025: Thessaloniki – Dion – Olympus Mountain – Kalambaka

  • Morning: Depart for Dion, an ancient city once dedicated to the worship of Zeus. Explore the ruins, including the sanctuary of Demeter and the theater.

  • Afternoon:Journey towards Mount Olympus, where we’ll admire panoramic views of the valleys and the grandeur of the mythical mountain. Continue to Kalambaka, near the spectacular Meteora rock formations.

  • Dinner: at a local tavern offering great views and great greek food.

  • Accommodation: Divani Meteora Hotel***** or similar, Kastraki

Day 8: Wednesday,  May 29th, 2025: Meteora Monasteries – Pelion Peninsula

  • Morning: This morning, we will visit the awe-inspiring Meteora monasteries perched atop towering rock formations. Explore the monastery and learn about its history and the monks’ way of life.

  • Afternoon: Travel to the Pelion Peninsula. Wander through the charming villages of Portaria and Makrinitsa, where traditional stone houses and stunning views await. Enjoy a relaxing break at a local café with views of the Aegean Sea.

  • Dinner at Krista Hotel Restaurant.

  • Accommodation: Archontiko Naoumidi Hotel***** or similar, Pelion

Day 9: Thursday, May 30th, 2025:  Pelion Peninsula – Villages and Leisure – Kayaking at Damouchari Beach

  • Morning: Explore Makrinitsa, known as the "Balcony of Pelion," with breathtaking views of the Pagasetic Gulf. Visit the Church of Agios Nikolaos and explore the cobbled streets. Continue to Tsagarada, home to the ancient plane tree and Church of Agia Paraskevi.

  • Afternoon: Relax at Damouchari Beach, enjoying the golden sands and turquoise waters. We will take an adventure of kayaking or stand-up paddleboarding, which offers a relaxing way to explore the coastline.

  •  Dinner: at Tavern Tsagarada, enjoying fresh seafood by the shore

  •  Acommodation: Archontiko Naoumidi Hotel***** or similar, Pelion.

Day 10: Friday, May 31st, 2025: Pelion Peninsula – The Oracle of Delphi – Cooking Lesson and Athens

  • Morning: This morning, we will visit Delphi, the center of the ancient Greek world. We’ll explore the Temple of Apollo, an ancient theater, and stunning Mount Parnassus views.

  • Afternoon: Continue to Athens and check into the luxurious Hotel Grande Bretagne, which offers views of the Acropolis. Stroll through the historic Plaka district, visit quaint shops, and enjoy the lively cafés. In the evening, take part in an Athens cooking class where you’ll learn to prepare a classic Greek meal, like moussaka or souvlaki, and enjoy a delicious dinner afterward.

  •  Dinner: After the cooking lesson we will enjoy our dinner. 

  •   Accommodation: Hotel Grande Bretagne***** or similar

Day 11: Saturday, June 1st, 2025: Athens – Flight back home

  • Morning: Visit the iconic Acropolis and marvel at the Parthenon, followed by a visit to the Acropolis Museum.

  • Afternoon: Explore the Ancient Agora, including the Temple of Hephaestus and Roman Agora with the Tower of the Winds.  Free time to explore more of Athens or relax before departure, reflecting on an unforgettable journey through Greece.

Registration and Cancelations Terms

Payment Conditions: 

  • Upon registration, a 500 USD deposit per person must be paid (the deposit is nonrefundable but stays as credit for future use for unlimited time).

  • 50% to be paid 3 months before the tour - by the 22nd of February 2025. 

  • 20% to be paid 1 month before the tour - by the 22nd of April 2025.                        ​

 

Cancellation Policy: 

  • 90 – 0 days before departure - 500 USD of the deposit plus any penalties requested by suppliers

  • Between 14 and 8 days before arrival: 70% of the booking.

  • 7 days or less before arrival: 100% of the booking.

Additional Information

What to Pack: 

  • Pack lightweight, quick-dry clothing, warm evening clothing, and a rain jacket.

  • The sun can be intense, so pack sunblock for skin and lips along with a ha t.

  • Bring an adapter; you may need a converter to charge and use older electronics. 

  • Good walking shoes and sneakers with a good grip. 

  • Always carry a bottle of water. 

Money:

  • Euro is the accepted currency, and you should prepare with the most of it before departure. 

  • ATMs are available, credit card use is also acceptable. 

  • We recommend taking enough cash for personal incidentals, souvenirs, drinks, etc. (debit cards are generally not accepted for small purchases).

  • ​​In late May, Greece enjoys warm spring weather, with temperatures ranging from 18°C to 28°C (64°F to 82°F) in most regions.

  • In Ioannina, Monodendri, and Kastoria, expect pleasant daytime temperatures of 18°C to 25°C (64°F to 77°F) and cooler nights around 10°C to 15°C (50°F to 59°F), with occasional showers.

  • Thessaloniki sees highs of 22°C to 28°C (72°F to 82°F) and cooler evenings around 15°C (59°F), mostly sunny with little rain.\

  • Olympus and Meteora experience daytime temperatures of 18°C to 24°C (64°F to 75°F) and cooler nights (12°C / 54°F), with sunny weather.

  • Volos has highs of 22°C to 27°C (72°F to 81°F) and mild nights around 15°C (59°F), with sunny conditions.

  • In Athens, the weather is warm, with highs of 24°C to 30°C (75°F to 86°F) and cooler evenings around 17°C (63°F), mostly sunny and dry.

  • This time of year offers ideal conditions for sightseeing and outdoor activities across Greece.​​​
